NBE and CIB top banks on First Bank index for depositors’ confidence during 2022

First Bank index of depositors’ confidence during the year 2022 revealed that the National Bank of Egypt topped, after it succeeded in increasing the volume of its customers’ deposit portfolio by EGP614 bn, to record about EGP 3 tn by the end of December 2022, compared to EGP 2.386 tn by the end of December 2021.

CIB took second place after it was able to increase the size of its customers’ deposit portfolio by EGP124.02 bn during the past year, to record about EGP530.1 bn at the end of December 2022, compared to EGP 406.1 bn at the end of December 2021.

Qatar National Bank Al Ahli ranked third after it succeeded in increasing its deposit portfolio by EGP110.8 bn, to move from EGP296.2 bn at the end of December 2021, and reach EGP407.1 bn at the end of December 2022, followed by Arab African and Banque du Caire after Increasing the size of their customers’ deposit portfolios by EGP57.3 and 51.9 bn, respectively, during the past year.

As for sixth place, Agricultural Bank of Egypt was able to increase its customers’ deposit portfolio by EGP45.3 bn during the past year, to record EGP 141.2 bn by the end of December 2022, compared to EGP 96 bn by the end of December 2021.

First Abu Dhabi Bank - Egypt came in seventh place, with an increase of EGP36.1 bn over the past year, after its customers' deposit portfolio moved from EGP103.2 bn at the end of December 2021, to EGP 139.4 bn at the end of December 2022, followed by Abu Dhabi Commercial Bank - Egypt, with an increase of EGP34.4 bn during the same period.

Housing and Development Bank ranked ninth, after it succeeded in increasing its customers’ deposit portfolio by EGP 26.6 bn, as it moved from EGP62.9 bn at the end of December 2021, rising to EGP 89.5 bn at the end of December 2022, followed by  National Bank of Kuwait – Egypt, with an increase value of EGP 22.4 bn during last year.

Abu Dhabi Islamic Bank - Egypt came in eleventh place, after its customers' deposit portfolio increased by EGP21.9 bn, followed by Al Ahli Bank of Kuwait - Egypt in the 12th place, with an increase of EGP18.3 bn over the past year.

It should be noted that all values ​​and growth values ​​mentioned above, are according to separate financial statements announced for each bank at the end of the fiscal period ending in December of 2022.
