Top Listed Banks in Return on Shareholder Equity in Q1-2023: HD Bank, Credit Agricole bank, and ADIB Egypt Lead
First Bank has revealed a list of top listed banks in terms of achieving shareholder Equity, based on the Return on Average Equity ratio (ROE). HD Bank topped the list with a rate of 12.64% after netting a profit of EGP1.325 bn in Q1 2023.
The list, which included 11 banks listed on the Egyptian Stock Exchange, showed that all banks achieved positive ROE. Due to their success in generating profits at varying levels and not incurring any losses during the financial period from January to March 2023.
ROE reflects banks' ability to invest shareholders' equity in generating suitable levels of profits during the analyzed period. The higher the return, the more efficient the banks are in utilizing their shares to achieve satisfactory profit levels.
According to the list, Credit Agricole Egypt secured the second position with ROE of 11.94% in Q1 of the current year. The bank achieved a net profit of EGP1.221 bn during the same period.
ADIB Egypt ranked third with ROE of 10.23%, supported by a net profit of EGP968.3 mn in Q1 2023.
Faisal Islamic Bank of Egypt came fourth with a ROE of 9.42% during the first 3 months of the current year, after achieving a net profit of EGP2.146 bn during the analyzed period.
CIB Egypt secured the fifth position with ROE of 9.37%, following a net profit of EGP6.084 bn in Q1 2023.
It is worth noting that all values and rates of ROEs mentioned in the above analysis are based on separate announced financial statements of each bank as of the end of March of the current year
