El Sisi oversees initiative to lower essential goods prices

President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi met yesterday with Dr. Mustafa Madbouly, the Prime Minister, Hassan Abdullah, the Governor of the Central Bank, General Abbas Kamel, the head of General Intelligence, Dr. Hala El-Said, the Minister of Planning and Economic Development, and Dr. Mohamed Maait, the Minister of Finance.
The official spokesperson for the presidency, Counselor Ahmed Fahmi, stated that the meeting reviewed the overall performance indicators of the Egyptian economy during the past period, developments in the implementation of the initiative to reduce prices of basic commodities. The President was briefed on the most important economic targets and efforts to cooperate in this regard with various international financial institutions.
The spokesperson mentioned that the President instructed to continue enhancing reforms related to fiscal and monetary policies, and maximizing the role of the private sector in the development process, as part of the state's efforts to improve the overall economic indicators, diversify its production structure, and provide promising opportunities to attract investments, contributing to increasing employment opportunities and gross domestic product growth rates.
The President also instructed to continue the intensive cooperation between the government and the private sector within the framework of the initiative to reduce prices of basic commodities, and to overcome any obstacles that may hinder the implementation, with the aim of easing the burdens on citizens.
