According to the latest bulletin the Central Bank of Egypt, indicating an increase in bank loans excluding CBE

CBE: Bank loans rise to EGP4.85 tn by July-2023end

According to the latest bulletin from the Central Bank of Egypt, indicating an increase in bank loans (excluding CBE) to EGP4.85 tn by the end of July 2023, compared to EGP4.01 tn by the end of 2022, with a growth rate of 20.88%, and an increase of EGP 838.058 bn.

Total government loans increased by approximately 31.86%, reaching EGP2.12 tn by the end of July 2023, compared to EGP 1.60 tn by the end of 2022, with an increase of EGP 511.15 bn.

Government loans are divided into loans in local currency and loans in foreign currencies. Local currency government loans increased to EGP1.15 tn by the end of July 2023, compared to EGP 973.48 bn by the end of 2022, with a growth rate of 17.81%, and an increase of EGP 173.38 bn.

As for government loans in foreign currencies, they jumped to the equivalent of EGP 968.86 bn by the end of July 2023, compared to the equivalent of EGP631.1 bn by the end of 2022, with a growth rate of 53.52%, and an increase of EGP337.77 bn.

Non-governmental loans increased by about 13.57%, reaching EGP2.74 tn by the end of July 2023, compared to EGP 2.41 tn by the end of 2022, with an increase of EGP326.907 bn.

Non-governmental loans are divided into loans in local currency and loans in foreign currencies. Local currency non-governmental loans jumped to EGP 2.27 tn by the end of July 2023, compared to EGP2.06 tn by the end of 2022, with a growth rate of 10.40%, and an increase of EGP214.117 bn

Non-governmental loans in foreign currencies increased to the equivalent of EGP461.836 bn by the end of July 2023, compared to the equivalent of EGP 349.046 bn by the end of 2022, with a growth rate of 32.31%.
