CBE: Household sector loans grow by 22%, recording EGP 933.3 bn by end of 2023

The latest bulletin of the Central Bank of Egypt, issued on the bank’s website, revealed that loans granted to Household sector increased by 22.08% during the last year, to record EGP933.32bn at the end of December 2023, compared to EGP764.52 bn at the end of December 2022, an increase of EGP 168.806 bn.
Total household sector loans in local currency only increased by 21.65%. to record EGP 918.27 bn at the end of December 2023, compared to EGP 754.84 bn at the end of December 2022.
While Total household sector loans in foreign currency jumped with a growth rate of 55.51%, to record EGP 15.053 bn at the end of December 2023, compared to EGP 9.680 bn at the end of December 2022.
Total loans to customers from banks increased by a growth rate of 31.73%, to record EGP 5.286 tn at the end of December 2023, compared to EGP 4.012 tn at the end of December 2022, an increase of EGP 1.273 tn.
