CBE: Private sector loans grow by 22.2%, recording EGP 1.81 tn during 2023

The monthly statistical bulletin of the Central Bank of Egypt revealed that total loans growth of the private business sector in local and foreign currencies increased by 22.2% to record EGP1.812 tn at the end of December 2023, compared to EGP1.482 tn at the end of December 2022, an increase of EGP329.4bn.

Loans granted to the private sector in foreign currency jumped by 27.80% to record EGP 383.3 bn at the end of December 2023, compared to EGP 300 bn at the end of December 2022, an increase of EGP 83.4 bn.

Total banking sector loans rose by 31.73% to record EGP 5.286 tn at the end of December 2023, compared to EGP 4.013 tn at the end of December 2022, an increase of EGP 1.273 tn.
