CBE: Household sector loans grow by 6.1%, recording EGP 990.4 bn during Q1- 2024

The latest bulletin of the Central Bank of Egypt, issued on the bank’s website, revealed that loans granted to Household sector increased by 6.11% during the first 3 months of this year, to record EGP990.35bn at the end of March 2024, compared to EGP933.33bn at the end of December 2023, an increase of EGP 57.03 bn.
Total household sector loans in local currency only increased by 5.25%. to record EGP966.49 bn at the end of March 2024, compared to EGP 918.27 bn at the end of December 2023.
While Total household sector loans in foreign currency rose with a growth rate of 58.51%, to record EGP 23.86 bn at the end of March 2024, compared to EGP 15.05 bn at the end of December 2023, an increase of EGP 8.81 bn..
Total loans to customers from banks increased by a growth rate of 26.41%, to record EGP 6.68tn at the end of March 2024, compared to EGP 5.29 tn at the end of December 2023, an increase of EGP 1.40tn.
