CBE: Household sector loans grow by 4.1%, recording EGP 972 bn by end of February 2024

The latest bulletin of the Central Bank of Egypt, issued on the bank’s website, revealed that loans granted to Household sector increased by 4.12% during the first 2 months of this year, to record EGP971.75bn at the end of February 2024, compared to EGP933.33bn at the end of December 2023, an increase of EGP 38.42 bn.

Total household sector loans in local currency only increased by 4.14%. to record EGP956.26 bn at the end of February 2024, compared to EGP 918.27 bn at the end of December 2023.

While Total household sector loans in foreign currency rose with a growth rate of 2.86%, to record EGP 15.48 bn at the end of February 2024, compared to EGP 15.05 bn at the end of December 2023.

Total loans to customers from banks increased by a growth rate of 6.73%, to record EGP 5.64 tn at the end of February 2024, compared to EGP 5.29 tn at the end of December 2023, an increase of EGP 356bn.
