Egypt’s banking sector performance on EGX at Thursday closing session
The banking sector ends EGX trading session on Thursday with slump in the market cap by 0.21% or EGP 255.8 billion compared to EGP 226.369 billion at the end of Wednesday session.
The market cap of the banking sector reached 24.41% of the total EGX market cap, which is considered the highest percentage among the sectors listed on the Egyptian Stock Exchange.
The turnover on banking sector shares amounted to EGP 160.545 million after 5.218 billion shares were exchanged, which represents 10.47% of the total trading volume today.
he indices of the Egyptian Exchange (EGX) closed Thursday’s trading session in the green zone, with the EGX30 main index inching up by 0.14% to 14,598.53 points.
Likewise, the small- and mid-cap EGX70 EWI as well as EGX100 EWI closed higher by 0.37% to 2,801.93 points and by 0.35% to 4,145.5 points, respectively.
The turnover amounted to EGP 1.84 billion after 1 billion shares were exchanged, while the market cap value totalled EGP 961.22 billion.
As for trading on securities, the Egyptian investors were net sellers with EGP 167.41 million. Meanwhile, the Arab and foreign traders were net buyers with EGP 147.92 million and EGP 19.48 million, respectively.
