NBE's Customer deposits rose by 194% over the last 4 years, recording EGP 5.40 tn

National Bank of Egypt was able to achieve a significant boom in the volume of its customer deposits during the last 4 years, as its total portfolio recorded a growth rate of 193.8%, reaching EGP5.40 tn in April 2025, compared to EGP1.84 tn by the end of 2020, achieving an increase of EGP 3.56 tn.

Tracking the portfolio’s growth journey over the period under analysis, we find that the bank achieved a growth rate of 44.7% in its total customer deposit portfolio, achieving an increase of EGP 1.67 tn during the period from December 2023 until last April, moving from EGP 3.73 tn by the end of 2023, and reaching EGP 5.40 tn in April 2025.

The bank achieved a growth rate of 15.9% in its total customer deposits during the year 2023, while it recorded growth rates of 35% and 29.8% in the size of its portfolio during the years 2022 and 2021, respectively.

In general, the National Bank of Egypt was able to achieve strong results in its main financial indicators during the last period, as the volume of its assets increased at a growth rate of 52.85%, reaching 8 trillion pounds in April 2025, compared to EGP 5.23 trillion by the end of 2023, achieving an increase of EGP 2.77 tn.

The size of its customer loan portfolio increased at a growth rate of 78.7% and an increase of EGP1.89 tn pounds during the last period, reaching EGP4.30 tn in April 2025, compared to EGP 2.41 tn by the end of 2023.

In terms of the size of the financing portfolio for small and medium enterprises, it has increased to EGP380 bn as of April 2025, and the bank aims to increase it by about EGP20 bn during the current year, while it aims to achieve a growth of about 15% to 20% in its loan portfolio annually.

It is also worth noting that the number of customers of the «mobile banking application at the National Bank of Egypt has increased to 8 million customers, and its digital services represent about 50% of its total transaction portfolio.
