HD Bank, Bank NXT, and ABK - Egypt top fastest growing banks in credit card balances during Q1-2025

First Bank list of banks with the fastest growth in credit card balances during the first quarter of 2025 revealed that the Housing and Development Bank topped the list, as its credit card balances jumped by about 22.2% during the first quarter of 2025, reaching 339.80 million pounds at the end of March 2025, compared to 278.13 million pounds by the end of 2024.

The «First Bank» list monitored credit card balances with 24 banks operating in the Egyptian banking sector for which data was available during the analysis period, and revealed that 17 of them achieved positive growth rates, while 7 banks recorded a noticeable decline during the first quarter of 2025.

Returning to the list, BANK NXT«seized second place, with a growth rate of 19.8% during the first quarter of 2025, as its credit card balances increased to 470.19 million pounds by the end of March 2025, compared to 392.63 million pounds by the end of 2024.

Al Ahli Bank of Kuwait – Egypt «ABK – Egypt» came in third place, thanks to an increase in the volume of its credit card balances by about 13.4% during the first quarter of 2025, reaching 977.73 million pounds at the end of March 2025, compared to 861.86 million pounds at the end of 2024.

The United Bank snatched fourth place, after the volume of its credit card balances increased by about 10.9% during 2024, recording 133.51 million pounds at the end of March 2025, compared to 120.34 million pounds at the end of 2024.

Banque du Caire dominated fifth place, thanks to an increase in its credit card balances by about 9.5% during the first quarter of 2025, recording 3.49 billion pounds at the end of March 2025, compared to 3.19 billion pounds at the end of 2024.

Al Baraka Bank ranked sixth, thanks to an increase in its credit card balances by about 8.3% during the first quarter of 2025, reaching 263.32 million pounds by the end of March 2025, compared to 243.04 million pounds by the end of 2024.

Arab Banking Company Bank «ABC» ranked seventh, as its credit card balances increased by about 6.3% during the first quarter of 2025, recording 395.77 million pounds at the end of March 2025, compared to 372.28 million pounds at the end of 2024.

Abu Dhabi Commercial Bank – Egypt «ADCB» came eighth, thanks to an increase in its credit card balances by about 5.7% during the first quarter of 2025, reaching 581.55 million pounds by the end of March 2025, compared to 550.05 million pounds by the end of 2024.

The Bank of Alexandria came in ninth place, as the volume of its credit card balances increased by about 5.5% during the first quarter of 2025, reaching 1.12 billion pounds by the end of March 2025, compared to 1.06 billion pounds by the end of 2024.

As for tenth place, it went to the National Bank of Kuwait –Egypt «NBK-Egypt», after the volume of its credit card balances increased by about 5.4% during the first quarter of 2025, reaching 835.91 million pounds by the end of March 2025, compared to 792.99 million pounds by the end of 2024.
