CIB, AAIB and QNB-Egypt top private sector banks strengthening its deposits in last 3 years

First Bank index of the private sector banks operating in the Egyptian banking sector that have strengthened their deposits in the last 3 years revealed that the Commercial International Bank-Egypt «CIB» topped the list, as its deposit portfolio jumped by EGP 561.79 billion in the last 3 years, reaching EGP 967.90 billion by the end of 2024, compared to EGP 406.10 billion by the end of 2021.

First Bank Deposit Enhancement Index monitored the values of the increase in deposit portfolios at 21 private banks operating in the Egyptian banking system for which financial data were available for the last 3 years (specifically from the end of 2021, until the end of 2024).

The index showed that all the banks under analysis achieved significant increases in the volume of their deposits in the last 3 years. It is worth noting that the banks «ABC» and «FABMISR» completed acquisitions during this period, which affected their increase values.

Returning to the list, the Arab African International Bank snatched second place, as its deposit portfolio increased by 512.20 billion pounds in the last 3 years, to record 672.40 billion pounds at the end of 2024, compared to 160.20 billion pounds at the end of 2021.

Qatar National Bank «QNB» Egypt dominated third place, with an increase of EGP 385.62 billion over the past 3 years, after its deposit portfolio recorded EGP 681.86 billion at the end of 2024, compared to EGP 296.24 billion at the end of 2021.

First Abu Dhabi Bank-Egypt «FABMISR» came fourth, after its deposit portfolio increased by EGP 181.76 billion over the past 3 years, reaching EGP 258.79 billion at the end of 2024, compared to EGP 77.03 billion at the end of 2021.

Abu Dhabi Islamic Bank-Egypt «ADIB-Egypt» took fifth place, after its deposit portfolio increased by EGP 124.48 billion over the past 3 years, reaching EGP 200.28 billion by the end of 2024, compared to EGP 75.80 billion by the end of 2021.

HSBC Egypt «HSBC» took sixth place, with its deposit portfolio jumping by EGP 104.69 billion in the last 3 years, after reaching EGP 211.14 billion at the end of 2024, compared to EGP 106.45 billion at the end of 2021.

The National Bank of Kuwait-Egypt «NBK-Egypt» came in seventh place, with an increase value of 97.73 billion pounds in the last 3 years, after its deposit portfolio reached 159.76 billion pounds at the end of 2024, compared to 62.02 billion pounds at the end of 2021.

The Suez Canal Bank won eighth place, after its deposit portfolio rose by 84.88 billion pounds in the last 3 years, to record 135.47 billion pounds by the end of 2024, compared to 50.59 billion pounds by the end of 2021.

Abu Dhabi Commercial Bank-Egypt «ADCB» came ninth, as its deposit portfolio increased by EGP 75.39 billion over the past 3 years, reaching EGP 116.50 billion by the end of 2024, compared to EGP 41.11 billion by the end of 2021.

As for the tenth place, it went to the Bank of Alexandria, as its deposit portfolio recorded 168.04 billion pounds at the end of 2024, compared to 95.72 billion pounds at the end of 2021, with an increase value of 72.32 billion pounds in the last 3 years.
