CIB, QNB-Egypt, and ADIB-Egypt top private sector banks strengthening their retail loans portfolios last 3 years

First Bank index of the private sector banks operating in the Egyptian banking sector that have strengthened individual financing portfolios in the last 3 years revealed that the Commercial International Bank - Egypt «CIB» topped the list, as its portfolio jumped by EGP 38.31 billion in the last 3 years, reaching EGP 79.37 billion by the end of 2024, compared to EGP 41.06 billion by the end of 2021.
The «First Bank» Index for Enhancing Individual Finance monitored the increase values in the total individual finance portfolios of 21 private banks operating in the Egyptian banking system for which financial data were available for the last 3 years (specifically from the end of 2021, until the end of 2024).
The index showed that all the banks under analysis achieved significant increases in the size of their deposit portfolios in the last 3 years. It is worth noting that the banks «ABC» and «FABMISR» completed acquisitions during this period, which affected their increase values.
Returning to the list, Qatar National Bank «QNB» Egypt took second place, as its individual loan portfolio rose by EGP 30.09 billion over the past 3 years, to EGP 66.39 billion by the end of 2024, compared to EGP 36.30 billion by the end of 2021.
Abu Dhabi Islamic Bank-Egypt «ADIB-Egypt» dominated third place, after its individual finance portfolio jumped by EGP 14.61 billion in the last 3 years, reaching EGP 27.66 billion at the end of 2024, compared to EGP 13.05 billion at the end of 2021.
The National Bank of Kuwait-Egypt «ABK-Egypt» came fourth, with an increase value of 13.71 billion pounds in the last 3 years, after its individual loan portfolio recorded 22.90 billion pounds at the end of 2024, compared to 9.19 billion pounds at the end of 2021.
The Arab African Bank ranked fifth, as its individual loan portfolio increased by about 10.64 billion pounds in the last 3 years, after recording 24.48 billion pounds at the end of 2024, compared to 13.85 billion pounds at the end of 2021.
HSBC Egypt «HSBC» took sixth place, as its individual loan portfolio jumped by EGP 10.54 billion over the past 3 years, recording EGP 16.31 billion at the end of 2024, compared to EGP 5.76 billion at the end of 2021. Arab International Banking Company «SAIB» came seventh, with an increase value of EGP 10.49 billion over the past 3 years, as its individual loan portfolio amounted to EGP 19.78 billion at the end of 2024, compared to EGP 9.28 billion at the end of 2021.
Al Baraka Bank ranked eighth, after its individual financing portfolio increased by 10.05 billion pounds in the last 3 years, to record 12.53 billion pounds at the end of 2024, compared to 2.48 billion pounds at the end of 2021.
First Abu Dhabi Bank-Egypt «FABMISR» came in ninth place, after its individual loan portfolio rose by EGP 9.10 billion in the last 3 years, recording EGP 20.80 billion at the end of 2024, compared to EGP 11.70 billion at the end of 2021.
As for tenth place, it went to the National Bank of Kuwait-Egypt «NBK-Egypt», after its individual loan portfolio recorded 17.71 billion pounds at the end of 2024, compared to 8.83 billion pounds at the end of 2021, with an increase value of 8.88 billion pounds in the last 3 years.
It is worth noting that private sector banks are banks whose total shareholding exceeds 50%, according to data from the Egyptian Ministry of Public Business Sector.
