CIB, QNB Egypt, and FABMISR top private sector banks strengthening their corporate loans portfolios in last 3 years

First Bank index of the private sector banks operating in the Egyptian banking sector that have strengthened institutional financing portfolios in the last 3 years revealed that the Commercial International Bank - Egypt «CIB» topped the list, as its portfolio rose by EGP 188.18 billion in the last 3 years, reaching EGP 310.20 billion by the end of 2024, compared to EGP 122.02 billion by the end of 2021.
The «First Bank» Index for Strengthening Institutional Financing monitored the values of the increase in the total institutional financing portfolios of 21 private banks operating in the Egyptian banking system for which financial data were available for the last 3 years (specifically from the end of 2021, until the end of 2024).
The index showed that all the banks under analysis achieved significant increases in the size of their financing portfolios for institutions in the last 3 years. It is worth noting that the banks «ABC» and «FABMISR» completed acquisitions during this period, which affected their increase values.
Returning to the list, Qatar National Bank «QNB» Egypt came in second place, as its institutional loan portfolio jumped by EGP 150.42 billion over the past 3 years, recording EGP 298.90 billion at the end of 2024, compared to EGP 148.49 billion at the end of 2021.
First Abu Dhabi Bank-Egypt «FABMISR» came in third place, after its institutional loan portfolio increased by EGP 110.59 billion over the past 3 years, recording EGP 128.09 billion at the end of 2024, compared to EGP 17.51 billion at the end of 2021.
The Arab African Bank dominated fourth place, as its institutional loan portfolio increased by about 105.23 billion pounds in the last 3 years, after recording 177.61 billion pounds at the end of 2024, compared to 72.38 billion pounds at the end of 2021.
The National Bank of Kuwait-Egypt «NBK-Egypt» came in fifth place, after its institutional loan portfolio recorded 86.50 billion pounds at the end of 2024, compared to 32.57 billion pounds at the end of 2021, with an increase value of 53.93 billion pounds in the last 3 years.
Suez Canal Bank ranked sixth, with an increase of EGP 49.78 billion over the past 3 years, as its institutional loan portfolio rose to EGP 73.67 billion at the end of 2024, compared to EGP 23.89 billion at the end of 2021.
Kuwait Finance House Bank - Egypt won seventh place, after its institutional financing portfolio reached 80.04 billion pounds at the end of 2024, compared to 36.23 billion pounds at the end of 2021, an increase of about 43.81 billion pounds in the last 3 years.
Abu Dhabi Islamic Bank-Egypt «ADIB-Egypt» took eighth place, after its institutional financing portfolio increased by about 40.41 billion pounds during the last 3 years, recording 75.08 billion pounds at the end of 2024, compared to 34.68 billion pounds at the end of 2021.
Emirates NBD came in ninth place, as its institutional loan portfolio increased by about 36.74 billion pounds in the last 3 years, after recording 67.16 billion pounds at the end of 2024, compared to 30.42 billion pounds at the end of 2021.
As for tenth place, it went to Attijariwafa Bank Egypt, after its institutional loan portfolio reached 48.66 billion pounds at the end of 2024, compared to 18.33 billion pounds at the end of 2021, with an increase value of 30.33 billion pounds in the last 3 years.
It is worth noting that private sector banks are banks whose total shareholding exceeds 50%, according to data from the Egyptian Ministry of Public Business Sector
