QNB Egypt, CIB and ADIB-Egypt top best banks on First Bank Credit Competitiveness Index during Q1- 2025

First Bank credit competitiveness index for banks operating in the Egyptian banking sector during the first quarter of 2025 revealed that Qatar National Bank «QNB» Egypt topped the list, as its total financing to customers jumped by 20.87 billion pounds during the first quarter of 2025, to record 386.16 billion pounds at the end of March 2025, compared to 365.29 billion pounds at the end of 2024.
The «First Bank» Credit Competitiveness Index monitored the value of the increase in financing portfolios of 25 banks operating in the Egyptian banking sector, for which financial data were available during the analysis period, and the index showed that 24 banks under analysis achieved noticeable increases in the volume of their financing to customers, while one bank witnessed a slight decline during the first quarter of 2025.
The «First Bank» Credit Competitiveness Index measures the extent to which banks are able to offer credit or loan products to attract customers, whether individuals or companies, and its measurement is based on the absolute value of growth in the loan portfolio, which expresses the extent of the bank's success in raising the balance of its portfolio.
Returning to the list, the Commercial International Bank «CIB» snatched second place after it succeeded in increasing its financing portfolio by EGP 19.62 billion during the first quarter of 2025, reaching EGP 409.20 billion by the end of March 2025, compared to EGP 389.57 billion by the end of 2024.
Abu Dhabi Islamic Bank – Egypt «ADIB» came in third place, as its portfolio of customer financing increased by EGP 15.20 billion during the first quarter of 2025, reaching EGP 117.94 billion by the end of March 2025, compared to EGP 102.74 billion by the end of 2024.
Suez Canal Bank came in fourth place, after it succeeded in increasing its financing portfolio for customers by 11.72 billion pounds during the first quarter of 2025, to record 90.88 billion pounds by the end of March 2025, compared to 79.17 billion pounds by the end of 2024.
First Abu Dhabi Bank – Egypt «FABMISR» ranked fifth, as its financing portfolio for customers increased by about 11.35 billion pounds during the first quarter of 2025, reaching 160.25 billion pounds by the end of March 2025, compared to 148.90 billion pounds by the end of 2024.
The Egyptian Gulf Bank «EGBANK» ranked sixth, as its portfolio of customer financing jumped by EGP 9.07 billion during the first quarter of 2025, reaching EGP 57.10 billion by the end of March 2025, compared to EGP 48.03 billion by the end of 2024.
Abu Dhabi Commercial Bank – Egypt «ADCB» came in seventh place, after its portfolio of customer financing increased by EGP 8.32 billion during the first 3 months of this year, to record EGP 63.28 billion by the end of March 2025, compared to EGP 54.96 billion by the end of 2024.
Cairo Bank ranked eighth, after its portfolio of customer financing increased by EGP 7.61 billion during the first quarter of 2025, reaching EGP 218.56 billion by the end of March 2025, compared to EGP 210.95 billion by the end of 2024.
Arab International Banking Company «SAIB» dominated ninth place, after its customer financing portfolio increased by about EGP 7.40 billion during the first 3 months of this year, reaching EGP 73.33 billion by the end of March 2025, compared to EGP 65.93 billion by the end of 2024.
As for tenth place, it went to the National Bank of Kuwait - Egypt, after its portfolio of financing for customers jumped by 5.88 billion pounds during the first quarter of 2025, reaching 74.97 billion pounds by the end of March 2025, compared to 69.09 billion pounds by the end of 2024.
It is worth noting that all values and growth rates mentioned in the above analysis are in accordance with the independent financial statements announced for each bank by the end of March 2025
