CIB, QNB Egypt, and Alex Lead the Top 10 Private Sector Banks in consumption Financing

CIB topped the list of the largest 10 private sector banks in Egypt in terms of consumption financing, with a retail loan portfolio worth 80.76 billion.

QNB Egypt came second with 70.20 billion, while Alex ranked third with EGP 33.33 billion. ADIB and AAIB followed in fourth and fifth place, with retail loans totaling 30.24 billion and 26.22 billion, respectively.

Consumer lending has become one of the key indicators of banks’ strength and competitiveness in the banking sector, as it reflects their ability to reach a broad base of customers and meet their financing needs.

With the rising demand for personal loans, private banks are competing to expand their share in this segment in order to achieve sustainable growth.

First Bank tracked the top 10 private sector banks in consumption financing by the end of March 2025, based on the absolute value of their retail loan portfolios.

According to the report,commercial international bank «CIB» led the ranking, with its retail loan portfolio reaching 80.76 billion by end-March 2025, up from 79.37 billion at end-2024, marking 1.8% growth, or an increase of 1.39 billion.

QNB Egypt came second, with a retail loan portfolio of 70.20 billion by end-March 2025, compared to 66.39 billion at end-2024 representing 5.7% growth, or an increase exceeding 3.81 billion in Q1 2025.

Bank of Alexandria secured third place, with its retail loans standing at EGP 33.33 billion by end-March 2025, slightly up from EGP 32.30 billion at end-2024 reflecting marginal quarterly growth of 3.2%.

Abu Dhabi Islamic Bank «ADIB» ranked fourth, recording EGP 30.24 billion in retail loans by end-March 2025, up from EGP 27.66 billion at end-2024, achieving 9.4% growth, or a rise of EGP 2.59 billion.

Arab African International Bank placed fifth, with retail loans worth EGP 26.22 billion, compared to EGP 24.48 billion at end-2024 an increase of 7.1%, or EGP 1.73 billion.

Al Ahli Bank of Kuwait «ABK» ranked sixth, with its retail loans surging to EGP 25.60 billion by end-March 2025, up from EGP 22.90 billion, recording 11.8% growth, or an increase of EGP 2.69 billion.

First Abu Dhabi Bank-Egypt «FABMISR» followed in seventh place, with its retail loan portfolio rising to EGP 22.84 billion, compared to EGP 20.80 billion, up 9.80%, or nearly EGP 2.04 billion.

saib Bank came eighth, with retail loans increasing to EGP 22.22 billion by end-March 2025, up from EGP 19.78 billion, representing 12.4% growth, or over EGP 2.45 billion.

EGBANK ranked ninth, with its retail loan portfolio growing to EGP 21.79 billion, from EGP 16.05 billion at end-2024, reflecting 35.8% growth, or an increase of EGP 5.74 billion.

Emirates NBD – Egypt rounded out the top 10, with its retail loan portfolio reaching EGP 19.47 billion by end-March 2025, compared to EGP 16.90 billion, marking 15.2% growth, or nearly EGP 2.57 billion.
