EGP index increased against a basket of major currencies to 39.879 points at today's trading

The Egyptian pound index recorded an increase against major currencies by the end of trading on Wednesday, October 29, 2025, as the index rose to 39.879 points, compared to 39.789 points at the close of Tuesday’s session.

The pound’s appreciation was driven by its gains against the US dollar, euro, British pound, Japanese yen, Chinese yuan, UAE dirham, and Saudi riyal by the end of today’s trading.

The average selling price of the US dollar declined from EGP 47.40 to EGP 47.35, while the average buying price fell from EGP 47.30 to EGP 47.25 by the end of the day.

Similarly, the average selling price of the euro decreased from EGP 55.26 to EGP 55.08, and the average buying price dropped from EGP 55.13 to EGP 54.96 by the close of trading.

The British pound also weakened, with the average selling price falling from EGP 63.10 to EGP 62.59, and the average buying price declining from EGP 62.95 to EGP 62.43 at the end of today’s session.

Meanwhile, the Japanese yen saw its average selling price decrease from EGP 31.19 to EGP 31.09, while the average buying price slipped from EGP 31.12 to EGP 31.01 by the end of the day.

The Chinese yuan’s average selling price edged down from EGP 6.67 to EGP 6.66, while the average buying price declined from EGP 6.66 to EGP 6.65 by the end of trading.

The UAE dirham also fell, with the average selling price dropping from EGP 12.90 to EGP 12.89, and the average buying price from EGP 12.88 to EGP 12.86 by the end of the session.

Lastly, the Saudi riyal decreased from EGP 12.64 to EGP 12.62 for selling, while the average buying price declined from EGP 12.61 to EGP 12.59 by the close of trading.
