EGP index decreased against a basket of major currencies to 39.591 points at today's trading

The Egyptian Pound Index declined against major currencies at the close of trading on Wednesday, December 17, 2025, as the index retreated to 39.591 points by the end of today’s session, compared to 39.638 points at the close of trading on Tuesday.
The decline in the Egyptian Pound Index came as a result of its depreciation against the US dollar, the UAE dirham, the Saudi riyal, and the Chinese yuan, while it rose against the euro, the British pound, and the Japanese yen at the close of today’s trading.
The average selling price of the US dollar increased from EGP 47.46 to EGP 47.64 by the end of today’s session, while the average buying price rose from EGP 47.36 to EGP 47.54 at the close of trading today.
The average selling price of the UAE dirham also rose from EGP 12.92 to EGP 12.97 by the end of today’s session, while the average buying price increased from EGP 12.89 to EGP 12.94 at the close of trading today.
The average selling price of the Saudi riyal increased from EGP 12.65 to EGP 12.70 by the end of today’s session, and the average buying price rose from EGP 12.62 to EGP 12.67 at the close of trading today.
The average selling price of the Chinese yuan rose from EGP 6.74 to EGP 6.76 by the end of today’s session, while the average buying price in Egypt increased from EGP 6.72 to EGP 6.74 at the close of trading today.
Meanwhile, the average selling price of the euro declined from EGP 55.86 to EGP 55.82 by the end of today’s session, and the average buying price fell from EGP 55.73 to EGP 55.69 at the close of trading today.
The average selling price of the British pound also declined from EGP 63.75 to EGP 63.53 by the end of today’s session, while the average buying price decreased from EGP 63.61 to EGP 63.38 at the close of trading today.
The average selling price of the Japanese yen declined from EGP 30.68 to EGP 30.63 by the end of today’s session, and the average buying price fell from EGP 30.61 to EGP 30.56 at the close of trading today.
