EGP index decreased against a basket of major currencies to 39.588 points at today's trading

The Egyptian Pound Index recorded an increase against major currencies at the close of trading on Thursday, December 18, 2025, as the index edged down to 39.588 points by the end of the session, compared with 39.591 points at the close of trading on Wednesday.
The decline in the Egyptian Pound Index came as a result of its depreciation against the British pound, while it appreciated against the US dollar, the Japanese yen, and the UAE dirham, and remained stable against the euro, the Saudi riyal, and the Chinese yuan at the close of today’s trading.
The average selling price of the British pound rose from EGP 63.53 to EGP 63.75 by the end of today’s session, while the average buying price increased from EGP 63.38 to EGP 63.59 at the close of trading.
Meanwhile, the average selling price of the US dollar declined from EGP 47.64 to EGP 47.63 by the end of today’s trading, and the average buying price fell from EGP 47.54 to EGP 47.53 at the close of the session.
The average selling price of the Japanese yen also declined from EGP 30.63 to EGP 30.58 by the end of today’s trading, while the average buying price decreased from EGP 30.56 to EGP 30.51 at the close of trading.
In addition, the average selling price of the UAE dirham slipped from EGP 12.97 to EGP 12.96 by the end of today’s session, while the average buying price remained stable at EGP 12.94 at the close of trading.
Meanwhile, the average selling price of the euro remained stable at EGP 55.82 by the end of today’s trading, and the average buying price also stabilized at EGP 55.69 at the close of the session.
The average selling price of the Saudi riyal remained unchanged at EGP 12.70 by the end of today’s trading, while the average buying price also stabilized at EGP 12.67 at the close of the session.
Likewise, the average selling price of the Chinese yuan remained unchanged at EGP 6.76 by the end of today’s trading, while the average buying price in Egypt rose from EGP 6.74 to EGP 6.75 at the close of the session.
