EGP index increased against a basket of major currencies to 39.461 points at today's trading

The Egyptian Pound Index recorded an increase against major currencies at the close of trading on Wednesday, December 31, 2025, with the index rising to 39.461 points, compared to 39.379 points at the close of trading on Tuesday.

The rise in the Egyptian Pound Index was driven by its appreciation against the US dollar, euro, British pound, Japanese yen, Chinese yuan, UAE dirham, and Saudi riyal by the end of today’s trading session.

The average selling price of the US dollar declined from EGP 47.78 to EGP 47.72, while the average buying price decreased from EGP 47.68 to EGP 47.62 at the close of trading.

The average selling price of the euro fell from EGP 56.25 to EGP 56.10, while the average buying price declined from EGP 56.12 to EGP 55.98 by the end of trading.

The average selling price of the British pound decreased from EGP 64.55 to EGP 64.29, while the average buying price declined from EGP 64.40 to EGP 64.12 at the close of trading.

The average selling price of the Japanese yen fell from EGP 30.65 to EGP 30.48, while the average buying price declined from EGP 30.58 to EGP 30.41 by the end of the session.

The average selling price of the Chinese yuan declined from EGP 6.83 to EGP 6.81, while the average buying price in Egypt decreased from EGP 6.82 to EGP 6.80 at the close of trading.

The average selling price of the UAE dirham fell from EGP 13.01 to EGP 12.99, while the average buying price in Egypt declined from EGP 12.98 to EGP 12.96 by the end of trading.

Similarly, the average selling price of the Saudi riyal decreased from EGP 12.74 to EGP 12.72, while the average buying price declined from EGP 12.71 to EGP 12.69 at the close of today’s trading session.
