EGP index increased against a basket of major currencies to 39.548 points at today's trading

The Egyptian Pound Index Recorded an Increase Against Major Currencies at the Close of Trading on Sunday, January 4, 2026, rising to 39.548 points at the end of the session, compared with 39.461 points at the close of last Wednesday’s trading.

The increase in the Egyptian pound index was driven by its appreciation against the US dollar, euro, British pound, Japanese yen, UAE dirham, and Saudi riyal, while it remained stable against the Chinese yuan at the close of today’s trading.

The average selling price of the US dollar declined from EGP 47.72 to EGP 47.65 by the end of today’s session, while the average buying price fell from EGP 47.62 to EGP 47.55.

The average selling price of the euro decreased from EGP 56.10 to EGP 55.85, while the average buying price retreated from EGP 55.98 to EGP 55.72 by the close of trading.

The average selling price of the British pound declined from EGP 64.29 to EGP 64.15, while the average buying price fell from EGP 64.12 to EGP 63.98.

The average selling price of the Japanese yen decreased from EGP 30.48 to EGP 30.38, and the average buying price retreated from EGP 30.41 to EGP 30.31 by the end of the session.

The average selling price of the UAE dirham declined from EGP 12.99 to EGP 12.97, while the average buying price in Egypt fell from EGP 12.96 to EGP 12.94.

Similarly, the average selling price of the Saudi riyal decreased from EGP 12.72 to EGP 12.70, and the average buying price retreated from EGP 12.69 to EGP 12.67 by the close of trading.

Meanwhile, the average selling price of the Chinese yuan remained unchanged at EGP 6.81, while the average buying price in Egypt declined from EGP 6.80 to EGP 6.79 at the end of today’s trading session.
