Big Numbers Race: 9 Turkish Banks Make It to «First Bank» List of the Largest 100 Banks by Deposits in the Middle East and North Africa

«First Bank»’s ranking of the largest 100 banks by deposit size in the Middle East and North Africa as of the end of September 2025 revealed that Turkish banks control 9 seats within the ranking. According to the list data, the total deposits of these banks reached approximately 425.20 USD bn by the end of September 2025.

The ranking was based on ordering the banks according to the announced customer deposits measured in US dollars, providing a unified comparison tool between different banking institutions. The ranking also excluded banks for which no official data is available, to ensure the accuracy of the results and the reliability of the adopted methodology.

Regarding the performance of Turkish banks within the ranking, «Ziraat Bankası» came in seventh place with a deposit portfolio of 119.11 USD bn by the end of September 2025.

«Türkiye Halk Bankası» secured the thirteenth position, after recording customer deposits of approximately 78.93 USD bn by the end of the period under analysis.

«VakıfBank» took the fourteenth place in the list, with a deposit portfolio of 76.05 USD bn, followed by «Türkiye İş Bankası» in fifteenth place with a deposit portfolio of 70.16 USD bn by the end of September 2025.

«Akbank» dominated the twenty-fourth position, recording customer deposits of approximately 48.74 USD bn by the end of September 2025.

«Ziraat Katılım Bankası» occupied the fifty-fifth position, after its customer deposit portfolio reached approximately 11.62 USD bn by the end of the period under analysis.

«Vakıf Katılım Bankası» held the 56th position in the list, with a deposit portfolio of approximately 11.56 USD bn by the end of September 2025.

«Emlak Katılım Bankası» ranked 77th, with its customer deposit portfolio reaching approximately 6.12 USD bn by the end of the period under analysis.

As for the 99th position in the ranking, it went to «Şekerbank», with total deposits of 2.90 USD bn by the end of September 2025.

It is worth noting that the ranking included the parent banking groups in various Middle East and North Africa countries and did not include their foreign subsidiaries.
