EGP index decreased against a basket of major currencies to 35.487 points at today's trading
The Egyptian pound index declined against major currencies at the close of trading on Tuesday, May 12, falling to 35.487 points, compared to 35.518 points at the close of trading on Monday.
The pound's decline was attributed to its depreciation against the US dollar, the Chinese yuan, the UAE dirham, and the Saudi riyal, while it appreciated against the euro, the British pound, and the Japanese yen.
The average selling price of the US dollar rose from EGP 52.87 to EGP 52.97 at the close of trading, while the average buying price increased from EGP 52.77 to EGP 52.87.
Similarly, the average selling price of the Chinese yuan rose from EGP 7.78 to EGP 7.80 at the close of trading, and the average buying price increased from EGP 7.76 to EGP 7.78.
The average selling price of the UAE dirham rose from EGP 14.39 to EGP 14.42 at the close of trading today, while the average buying price increased from EGP 14.37 to EGP 14.39.
The average selling price of the Saudi riyal rose from EGP 14.09 to EGP 14.12 at the close of trading today, and the average buying price increased from EGP 14.07 to EGP 14.09.
Meanwhile, the average selling price of the euro decreased from EGP 62.25 to EGP 62.22 at the close of trading today, and the average buying price declined from EGP 62.12 to EGP 62.09.
The average selling price of the British pound fell from 71.97 Egyptian pounds to 71.73 Egyptian pounds at the close of trading today, while the average buying price decreased from 71.82 Egyptian pounds to 71.56 Egyptian pounds.
Similarly, the average selling price of the Japanese yen fell from 33.66 Egyptian pounds to 33.63 Egyptian pounds at the close of trading today, and the average buying price decreased from 33.58 Egyptian pounds to 33.56 Egyptian pounds.
