The First Bank ranking covered customer deposits across 32 banks operating in the Egyptian banking sector for which standalone financial statements were available as of the end of March 2026.
The ranking also showed that the top 10 positions remained virtually unchanged, with the only movement being HSBC’s rise to eighth place, up from ninth in the 2025 ranking.
Meanwhile, the five largest banks continued to dominate the sector, collectively accounting for 72.37% of total customer deposits at the end of March 2026, compared with 71.95% at the end of 2025.
Customer deposits across the banking sector expanded by more than EGP 1.11 trillion during the first quarter of 2026, reaching EGP 16.88 trillion by the end of March, compared with EGP 15.77 trillion at year-end 2025.
