CBE's Net Foreign Assets Increase to USD 16.97 bn at End-June 2026
The latest monthly data released by the Central Bank of Egypt (CBE) showed that the Central Bank's Net Foreign Assets (NFA) recorded a surplus of USD 16.97 bn (equivalent to EGP 836.44 bn) at the end of June 2026, up from USD 13.30 bn (equivalent to EGP 634.86 bn) at the end of 2025.
In May 2024, the CBE announced that its Net Foreign Assets (NFA) position had shifted from a deficit to a surplus for the first time since March 2022.
Net Foreign Assets (NFA) represent the banking sector's foreign assets held against non-residents minus its liabilities to non-residents. Changes in this indicator reflect the banking sector's net financial transactions with the rest of the world over a given period, including those conducted by the central bank.
