Egypt’s banking sector performance on EGX at Wednesday
The banking sector in the Egyptian Stock Exchange closed in today’s trading session on Wednesday, July 22, 2026, recording a decrease in its market capitalization by 3.70%, reaching EGP 928.712 billion at the end of today’s session, compared to 964.430 the previous trading session's closing. The sector’s market capitalization accounted for 24.50% of the total market capitalization, the highest share among all listed sectors on the exchange. Trading value on banking sector stocks reached EGP 776.937 million, representing 6.17% of the total trading value on the exchange today. A total of 10.584 million shares were traded in the sector, accounting for 0.28% of the overall trading volume of the market. The Egyptian Exchange closed at the end of today’s trading session with a mixed performance in the main indices, as the benchmark index declined while other indices increased, while foreign investors tended toward buying, recording a net purchase value of approximately EGP 258.8 million. The benchmark EGX30 index declined by 0.11% to close at 53.931 points, while the EGX70 index increased by 0.69% to 17.706 points, and the EGX100 index gained 0.49% to close at 23.597 points.
