«QNB-Egypt», «ADIB-Egypt» and «NBK-Egypt» Lead Foreign Banks on the First Bank Credit Competitiveness Index Over the Past 5 Years

«QNB-Egypt» Tops the Ranking with a Wide Lead Over Its Closest Competitors

Customer financing at 12 foreign banks reached 1.38 EGP trillion, recording a 22.8% CAGR over the past 5 years

Gulf banks dominated the top five positions, accounting for five of the 8 Gulf banks included in the ranking

EGX-listed banks secured two positions among the top five, out of 4 listed banks included in the ranking

First Bank's Credit Competitiveness Index for foreign banks over the past 5 years ranked «QNB-Egypt» first after its customer financing portfolio increased by 275.68 EGP bn, reaching 440.65 EGP bn at the end of 2025, compared with 164.96 EGP bn at the end of 2020.

«ADIB-Egypt» ranked second, with its customer financing portfolio expanding by approximately 107.24 EGP bn over the past five years, reaching 147.48 EGP bn at the end of 2025, compared with 40.24 EGP bn at the end of 2020.

«NBK-Egypt» secured third place after increasing its customer financing portfolio by 86.38 EGP bn over the same period, reaching 120.90 EGP bn at the end of 2025, up from 34.52 EGP bn at the end of 2020.

The First Bank Credit Competitiveness Index tracks the absolute increase in customer financing portfolios across 12 foreign banks for which financial statements were available. The data showed that all banks included in the ranking expanded their customer financing portfolios during the period under review.

The index measures banks' ability to enhance their lending competitiveness by expanding credit products and financing solutions for both retail and corporate customers. It is based on the absolute increase in net customer financing, reflecting each bank's success in expanding its financing portfolio.

Collectively, the 12 foreign banks increased their net customer financing to approximately 1.38 EGP trillion at the end of 2025, compared with 494.04 EGP bn at the end of 2020, representing a 22.8% compound annual growth rate over the period.

The ranking also showed that Gulf banks occupied the top five positions, namely «QNB-Egypt», «ADIB-Egypt», «NBK-Egypt», «KFH» and «ABK».

In addition, EGX-listed banks captured two of the top five positions, with «QNB-Egypt» ranking first and «ADIB-Egypt» ranking second.
