Abu Dhabi Islamic Bank – Egypt (ADIB-Egypt) topped First Bank’s ranking of the fastest-growing banks operating in Egypt by syndicated financing over the past three years, recording a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 110.3 per cent.
This was supported by its strong entry into the syndicated financing market in recent years, with its portfolio rising to EGP 3.31bn at end-2025 from EGP 356.46m at end-2022.
Beyond ADIB-Egypt’s lead, AlBaraka Bank Egypt secured another top-10 position for Islamic banks, ranking seventh with a CAGR of 32.8 per cent. This gave Islamic banks two places in the top 10 among the three covered by the ranking.
Abu Dhabi Commercial Bank – Egypt (ADCB Egypt) ranked second after its syndicated financing portfolio recorded a CAGR of 90.7 per cent over the past three years, reaching EGP 11.78bn at end-2025 from EGP 1.70bn at end-2022.
BANK NXT ranked third, with its syndicated financing portfolio recording a CAGR of 52.3 per cent over the past three years to reach EGP 6.82bn at end-December 2025, from EGP 1.93bn at end-2022.
First Bank’s ranking tracked the syndicated financing portfolios of 24 banks operating in Egypt for which the required financial data were available between 2022 and 2025. Of these, 22 recorded positive CAGRs, while two posted notable declines over the period.
At the sector level, the data showed that the top 14 banks in the 24-bank ranking exceeded the banking sector’s average three-year CAGR of 19.6 per cent, while the remaining banks recorded rates below this level.
Foreign banks secured five places among the 10 fastest-growing banks by syndicated financing over the past three years. Of the 10 foreign banks covered by the ranking, ADIB-Egypt, ADCB Egypt, Al Ahli Bank of Kuwait – Egypt (ABK-Egypt), QNB Egypt and alBaraka Bank Egypt ranked among the top 10.
Egypt’s two largest state-owned banks were absent from the leading positions, with Banque Misr ranking 14th and the National Bank of Egypt (NBE) placing 19th. However, they remained the two largest banks in Egypt’s syndicated financing market.
