Suez Canal Bank topped First Bank’s ranking of the fastest-growing banks operating in Egypt in corporates segment over the past three years, recording a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 57.8 per cent.

The bank's corporate loan portfolio nearly quadrupled to EGP 115.49bn at end-2025, from EGP 29.38bn at end-2022.

National Bank of Egypt (NBE) ranked second, supported by strong growth in its corporates segment. Its corporate loan portfolio recorded a CAGR of 46.62 per cent over the past three years, reaching EGP 4.73tn at end-2025, from EGP 1.5tn at end-2022.

Al Ahli Bank of Kuwait – Egypt (ABK-Egypt) secured third place, with its corporate loan portfolio recording a CAGR of 39.75 per cent. The portfolio rose to EGP 61.20bn at end-2025, compared with EGP 22.42bn at end-2022.

First Bank’s ranking assessed corporates segment at 26 banks operating in Egypt for which financial data were available between 2022 and 2025. All 26 banks recorded positive growth over the period.

Only the top four banks, Suez Canal Bank, NBE, ABK-Egypt and Commercial International Bank – Egypt (CIB), exceeded the banking sector’s average CAGR of 39.1 per cent, according to Central Bank of Egypt data. The remaining 22 banks recorded growth rates below the sector average.

Across Egypt’s banking sector, corporate loans rose to EGP 8.94tn at end-2025, from EGP 3.22tn at end-2022, with a reported CAGR of 39.1 per cent over the three-year period.

Foreign banks secured six places among the top 10, out of the 12 included in the ranking. These were ABK-Egypt, Abu Dhabi Commercial Bank – Egypt (ADCB Egypt), Abu Dhabi Islamic Bank – Egypt (ADIB-Egypt), Attijariwafa bank Egypt, National Bank of Kuwait – Egypt (NBK-Egypt) and Emirates NBD Egypt.

Islamic banks had limited representation, with just one of the four included in the ranking securing a place among the top 10. ADIB-Egypt ranked sixth, while Kuwait Finance House – Egypt (KFH-Egypt), Faisal Islamic Bank of Egypt and Al Baraka Bank Egypt remained outside the leading positions.

The ranking also highlighted the performance of Egypt’s two largest state-owned banks, with NBE ranking second and Banque Misr eighth.
