KFH-Egypt, BANK NXT lead retail loan growth in H1 2026

Retail loans across 26 banks operating in Egypt reaches EGP 1.32tn, up 13.36% in H1 2026
Kuwait Finance House – Egypt (KFH-Egypt) topped First Bank’s ranking of the fastest-growing banks operating in Egypt by retail loans during the first half of 2026, climbing from third place in the 2025 ranking.
The bank's retail loan portfolio grew approximately 46.1 per cent to EGP 14.43bn at end-June 2026, from EGP 9.88bn at end-2025.
BANK NXT secured second place after its retail loan portfolio expanded 29.4 per cent during the first six months of 2026 to EGP 23.19bn at end-June, compared with EGP 17.93bn at end-2025.
Agricultural Bank of Egypt ranked third, with its retail loan portfolio rising 29.1 per cent during the first half of 2026 to EGP 8.29bn at end-June, from EGP 6.42bn at end-2025.
First Bank’s ranking covered the retail loan portfolios of 26 banks operating in Egypt for which financial data were available. Of these, 25 recorded positive growth, while one bank registered a significant decline during the first half of 2026.
Seven banks retained their presence among the 10 fastest-growing banks by retail loans in both the 2025 and H1 2026 rankings. KFH-Egypt rose from third place in 2025 to the top of the ranking in H1 2026, while BANK NXT climbed from fifth to second.
Export Development Bank of Egypt (EBank) secured fourth place in H1 2026, up from 10th in the 2025 ranking. National Bank of Kuwait – Egypt (NBK-Egypt) also advanced, climbing from seventh place in 2025 to fifth in the first half of 2026.
By contrast, Abu Dhabi Islamic Bank – Egypt (ADIB-Egypt) slipped from fourth place in 2025 to seventh at end-June 2026.
Suez Canal Bank ranked eighth in H1 2026, down from second in 2025, while Emirates NBD Egypt retained ninth place.
Across the banking sector, the combined retail loan portfolios of the 26 banks reached approximately EGP 1.32tn at end-June 2026, compared with EGP 1.16tn at end-2025, representing growth of 13.36 per cent during the first half of the year.
Commercial International Bank – Egypt (CIB) maintained its lead among private-sector banks by retail loan portfolio size, with EGP 103.36bn at end-June 2026. QNB Egypt ranked second, with retail loans totalling EGP 92bn at end-June.
