Suez Canal Bank retains the lead, reflecting sustained retail deposit growth ahead of its peers
Six banks remain among the top 10 in both the 2025 and H1 2026 rankings
CIB leads private-sector banks by retail deposits, with QNB Egypt second
Retail deposits at 25 Egyptian banks rise 13.38% to EGP 3.32tn in H1 2026
Suez Canal Bank retained first place in First Bank’s ranking of the fastest-growing banks operating in Egypt by retail deposits in the first half of 2026, recording growth of 61.51 per cent. Its retail deposit portfolio reached EGP 60.27bn at end-June 2026, up from EGP 37.32bn at end-2025.
BANK NXT ranked second, with retail deposits rising 36.89 per cent during the first six months of 2026 to EGP 47.17bn at end-June, from EGP 34.46bn at end-2025.
Kuwait Finance House – Egypt (KFH-Egypt) placed third after its retail deposit portfolio grew 27.07 per cent to EGP 48.25bn at end-June 2026, compared with EGP 37.97bn at end-2025.
First Bank’s ranking covered 25 banks operating in Egypt for which financial data were available. All 25 recorded positive retail deposit growth during the first half of 2026.
Six banks maintained their presence among the 10 fastest-growing banks by retail deposits in both the 2025 and H1 2026 rankings. Suez Canal Bank retained first place, while BANK NXT held second.
KFH-Egypt climbed from fifth place in 2025 to third in the first half of 2026, while FABMISR advanced from 10th to fifth.
Attijariwafa bank Egypt also moved up the ranking, rising from seventh place in 2025 to sixth at end-June 2026. Emirates NBD Egypt, meanwhile, slipped from fourth to ninth.
Across the 25 banks included in the ranking, combined retail deposits rose 13.38 per cent to approximately EGP 3.32tn at end-June 2026, from EGP 2.93tn at end-2025.
Commercial International Bank – Egypt (CIB) retained its position as the largest private-sector bank by retail deposits, with a portfolio of EGP 741.27bn at end-June 2026. QNB Egypt ranked second, with retail deposits of EGP 333.74bn.
