A record Jump In CIB’s Loan Portfolio During 2022

CIB’s loan portfolio witnessed a remarkable growth during 2022, the bank’s total loans to customers and banks increased by 35.63%, to record EGP221.62 bn at the end of last year, compared to EGP 163.40 bn at the end of 2021, an increase of EGP 58.22. bn.

Due to the increase in the bank’s loans to customers to EGP 218.63 bn by the end of 2022, compared to EGP163.09 bn by the end of 2021, an increase of EGP 55.55 bn.

CIB’s financing for banks increased by 850.71%, to reach EGP2.99 bn by the end of 2022, compared to EGP314.33 mn  by the end of 2021, an increase of EGP2.67 bn.

CIB’s loans to customers were distributed between different currencies, in which  Egyptian pound and  US dollar had the largest shares, while its financing for banks was distributed between US dollar and  euro. In light of this remarkable growth, First Bank monitors the following numbers:

EGP  local currency acquired 69.76% of the bank's total loans, after it rose by  35% over the past year, to record EGP154.60 bn by the end of 2022, compared to EGP 114.52 bn by the end of 2021, an increase of EGP40.08 bn.

U.S. dollar  US dollar acquired 28.08% of the total financing  during the past year, after it rose to EGP62.24 bn  at the end of 2022, compared to EGP 45.22 bn at the end of 2021, achieving a growth rate of 37.63%, and an increase of EGP 17.02 bn.

This came as a result of an increase in its financing for banks, to EGP2.97 bn  by the end of 2022, compared to EGP 314.33 mn by the end of 2021, achieving a historical growth rate of 845.25%, and an increase of EGP 2.66 bn.

loans to customers jumped to EGP59.27 bn  by the end of 2022, compared to EGP44.91 bn by the end of 2021, achieving a growth rate of 31.98%, and an increase of EGP14.36 bn.

euro euro acquired  2.08% of the bank’s total loans at the end of last year, after it rose by 26.83%, to record EGP4.62 bn at the end of 2022, compared to EGP 3.64 bn at the end of 2021, an increase of EGP976.89 mn.

Due to the increase in its financing for customers to EGP4.60 bn by the end of 2022, compared to EGP3.64 bn by the end of 2021, achieving a growth rate of 26.36%, and an increase of EGP959.72 mn, in addition to loans to banks by EGP 17 mn, specifically in the last quarter of 2022

Pound Sterling pound sterling acquired a very limited share amounted to 0.01% of total loans during 2022, despite its rise to EGP 21.86 mn at the end of last year, compared to EGP 17.51 mn at the end of 2021, an increase of EGP4.35 mn.

Other foreign currencies CIB’s financing in other foreign currencies increased to EGP142.73 mn by the end of 2022, compared to EGP806 thousand , an increase of EGP 141.92 mn,  0.06% of the bank’s total loans at the end of last year.
