QNB Al Ahli’s loans portfolio surges 25% during 2022
Qatar National Bank Al Ahli (QNB Al Ahli) revealed that its loans and advances portfolio increased by EGP 45 billion during 2022, standing at a total amount of EGP 228 billion with a growth rate of 25% when compared to 2021, according to the bank’s latest financial results.
The bank’s market share in terms of loans recorded 5.84% in September 2022 to maintain its leading role as main lender in the Egyptian banking sector.
By the end of December 2022, the percentage of facilities granted to small and medium-sized enterprises amounted to about 25.5% exceeding the target of the Central Bank such regard, which was already achieved in December 2021 while the percentage of facilities granted to small companies reached 10.03%.
Moreover, QNB Al Ahli’s ratio of non-performing loans reached 5.05% at the end of December 2022 cushioned by a coverage ratio of 120.6%. However, the capital adequacy ratio reached 22.99% far above the minimum regulatory requirements, in light of the optimal application of tight credit policies.
Furthermore, the loans to deposits ratio reached 56.1% (at the end of December 2022) compared to an average of 47.2% for the banking sector (in September 2022 according to the latest data available from the Central Bank of Egypt).
