CBE: 5.31% growth in total household sector deposits, recording EGP 5.38 tn, At Jan-2023
The latest bulletin of the Central Bank of Egypt, issued on the bank’s website today, revealed a growth in household sector deposits at a rate of 5.31% and an increase of EGP271.1 bn during the first month of this year, to record EGP 5.377 tn at the end of January 2023, compared to EGP5.106 tn at the end of December 2022.
Total household sector deposits in local currency only increased, at a growth rate of 2.62%, with an increase value of EGP 115.4 bn during January, to record EGP 4.517 tn at the end of January 2023, compared to EGP 4.402 tn at the end of December 2022.
Total household sector deposits in foreign currency jumped at a growth rate of 22.12%, to record EGP 859.5 bn at the end of January 2023, compared to EGP 703.9 bn at the end of December 2022, an increase of EGP 155.7 bn.
Total bank deposits (other than CBE) rose to EGP9.021 tn at the end of January 2023, compared to EGP 8.580 tn at the end of December 2022, achieving a growth rate of 5.14%, and an increase of EGP441 bn during the first month of this year only .
