Household sector loans grow by 25.22% in 2022, record EGP 764.2 bn

The latest bulletin of the Central Bank of Egypt revealed an increase in loans granted to household sector by 25.22%, to record EGP764.2 bn at the end of December 2022, compared to EGP610.3 bn at the end of December 2021, an increase of EGP153.9 bn.

Bank loans to private business sector, in both local and foreign currencies, also increased by 30.34%, to record EGP 1.482 tn at the end of December 2022, compared to EGP 1.137 tn at the end of December 2021, an increase of EGP 345 bn.

Total banking sector loans increased by 32.35% during 2022, to record EGP 4.013 tn at the end of December 2022, compared to EGP 3.032 tn at the end of December 2021.
