Kamal El Ganzouri, the Egyptian Robin Hood

Dr. Kamal El Ganzouri was born on January 12, 1933, in Jarwan, Al-Bajour Center, Menoufia Governorate, and he obtained a doctorate in economics from Northwestern Michigan College .
El Ganzouri held many positions, most notably the governor of the New Valley and the governor of Beni Suef, then minister of planning and also deputy prime minister, and reached prime minister twice, and finally he was appointed advisor to President Adly Mansour for economic affairs in July 2013.
El Ganzouri taught in various Egyptian universities and training institutes, worked as an economic advisor at Arab Bank for Economic Development in Africa, then a member of the Presidential Council of Advisors, a member of the specialized national councils for production, education and services, a member of the board of directors of Sadat Academy for Administrative Sciences, and a member of the board of directors of the Academy Scientific Research and Technology.
El Ganzouri is considered the owner of 20 plan idea, which began in 1983 and ended in 2003.
He was also the owner of many huge projects that began during his era with the aim of facilitating production and agriculture, relying on the fertile soil of Egypt and to expand away from the overcrowded delta region, including the Toshka project, which is located in the far south of Egypt and east of Owainat and the reconstruction of Sinai, in addition to The second line that connects Shubra al-Khaima in Qalyubia Governorate and al-Munib in Giza Governorate, passing through Cairo Governorate.
During his term, he approved a set of laws and bold steps, including the new fixed-term rental law. He also contributed to improving Egypt’s relationship with IMF as well as the World Bank, and witnessed in his era the faltering of the Bank of Credit and Trade, so the government intervened to solve the crisis and joined the bank to Banque Misr. Work has also been done to implement the second line of the metro between Shubra Al-Khaima in Qalyubia and Al-Munib in Giza.
El Ganzouri, the former Prime Minister, passed away after many achievements which we are still seeing until now, at the age of 88, after a struggle with illness in 2021.
