EGBANK, saib, and Suez Canal Bank Top Listed Banks in focusing on Syndicated Loans by March-2023end
The list of the most focused listed banks on syndicated loans by the end of March 2023, revealed First Bank, showed that Egyptian Gulf Bank, topped the list with a percentage of 42.23% of its total customer loans, amounting to EGP 31.064 bn, while its syndicated loan portfolio reached EGP 13.117 bn.
The list unveils the investment orientations of 10 banks listed on the Egyptian Stock Exchange, specifically regarding syndicated loans, and is based on the criterion of (syndicated loans/total customer loans) to provide an indicator of the extent of concentration of the bank's customer loan portfolio in syndicated loans category. It is worth noting that Faisal Islamic Bank was absent from the list due to the unavailability of this category.
saib acquired the second position, with a concentration of 30.34% of its total customer loans in syndicated loan portfolio, amounting to EGP13.901 bn by the end of March 2023, while its total customer loans reached EGP45.799 bn during the same period.
Suez Canal Bank secured the third position on the list, as its syndicated loan portfolio accounted for 29.27% of its total customer loans, amounting to EGP36.550 bn, while its syndicated loan portfolio reached EGP10.699 bn by the end of March 2023.
As for the fourth position, it was obtained by Commercial International Bank, with a concentration of 21.45% of its total customer loans in the syndicated financing portfolio, which amounted to around EGP 52.205 bn by the end of March 2023, while its total customer loan portfolio reached EGP243.394 bn during the same period.
Export Development Bank of Egypt ranked fifth as its syndicated loans accounted for 14.62% of its total customer loans in the bank, totaling EGP 52.685 bn by the end of March 2023, while its syndicated loan portfolio reached EGP7.703 bn during the same period.
It should be noted that the concentration percentages and values mentioned in the above analysis are based on separate announced financial statements of each bank by the end of March 2023.
