HD Bank Tops Listed Banks in Focusing on Retail Loans by March-2023end

First Bank list of listed banks with the highest concentration on Retail loans by the end of March 2023 revealed that HD Bank topped the list. As they accounted for 56% of the total customer loans, amounting to EGP39.12 bn by the end of March last year. Meanwhile, Retail loans reached EGP21.908 bn during the same period.

The list measures the investment trends of 11 listed banks on the Egyptian Stock Exchange, specifically in terms of Retail loans. It relies on the criterion of (Retail loans/total customer loans) to provide an indicator of the extent to which the bank's loan portfolio focuses on Retail loans.

EGBANK secured the second position with 28.34% of its total customer loans amounting to EGP31.064 bn concentrated in its Retail loan portfolio valued at EGP8.803 bn by the end of March 2023.

Credit Agricole Egypt ranked third, with 27.57% of its total customer loans EGP9.919 bn concentrated in its Retail loan portfolio, which reached a value of EGP35.98 bn by the end of March 2023.

saib obtained the fourth position as its Retail loans, amounting to EGP10.96 bn, accounted for 23.93% of its total customer loan portfolio, which stood at EGP 45.799 bn by the end of March 2023.

Abu Dhabi Islamic Bank - Egypt came in fifth place, with 22.93% of its total customer loans, amounting to EGP63.807 bn by the end of March 2023, concentrated in its Retail loan portfolio, which reached EGP14.634 bn by the end of the same period.

It is worth noting that the concentration ratios and values mentioned in the above analysis are based on separate financial statements announced by each bank by the end of March 2023.
