First Bank
In a recent report by First Bank, the leading banks in Egypt concentrating on financial investments and treasury bills have been identified. Faisal Islamic Bank tops the list with a remarkable 58.89% focus, boasting a total financial investment portfolio of EGP 97.791 bn by the end of March 2023. The bank's total assets amounted to EGP 166.059 bn during the same period.
First Bank's analysis sheds light on the investment tendencies of banks within the Egyptian banking sector, specifically in the realm of financial investments. This analysis is based on the criterion of (Total Financial Investments and T-Bills / Total Assets), offering an indicator of the bank's asset concentration in the financial investment category.
Securing the second position, Qatar National Bank (QNB) achieved a 47.85% focus, with a total financial investment portfolio of EGP 247.594 bn. Additionally, the bank's asset portfolio reached approximately EGP 517.436 bn by the end of March 2023.
EGBANK secured the third position with a 38.16% focus on its financial investment portfolio in relation to its total assets. The bank recorded a total financial investment of EGP 38.138 bn, while its asset size amounted to EGP 99.934 bn by the end of the first quarter of 2023.
alBaraka Bank followed in the fourth place, concentrating 35.82% of its total assets, which amounted to EGP 93.301 bn, on its financial investment portfolio. This portfolio was valued at EGP 33.420 bn at the end of March 2023.
aiBANK clinched the fifth spot, focusing 35.51% of its total assets, valued at EGP 57.363 bn, on financial investments. The bank's total financial investments reached EGP 20.370 bn. Commercial International Bank (CIB) secured the seventh position with 33.36% concentration, as its total financial investments reached EGP 228.218 bn, and its total assets stood at EGP 684.196 bn.
Abu Dhabi Commercial Bank (ADCB) attained the eighth position, with a 30.26% focus on financial investments, based on total assets amounting to EGP 85.484 bn. ADCB's financial investments totaled EGP 25.865 bn by the end of March 2023. Banque du Caire and Alex Banks followed with concentrations of 29.80% and 27.62% respectively during the same period.
Tied at the eleventh position, Housing and Development Bank focused 26.22% of its total assets, followed closely by saib Bank with a 26.21% concentration by the end of March 2023.
