CBE: Cash reserves increase by 5.72%, EGP 1.58 tn at Sep-2023 end

The latest monthly data from the Egyptian Central Bank, released on the bank's official website, revealed a rise in Cash reserves to EGP1.581 tn by the end of September 2023, compared to EGP1.496 tn at the end of December 2022, with a growth rate of 5.72%, an increase of EGP 85.517 bn.
Cash reserves consist of local currency bank deposits and cash circulated outside CBE's vaults, according to the data from CBE.
The report also stated that cash circulated outside CBE's vaults increased to EGP 1.071 tn by the end of September 2023, compared to EGP 886.2 bn at the end of 2022, with a growth rate of 20.95%, an increase of EGP185.634 bn.
local currency bank deposits decreased to EGP509.951 bn by the end of September 2023, compared to EGP610.06 bn at the end of 2022.
