CBE Wins Prestigious Global Financial Inclusion Awards from AFI 2023

Global Alliance for Financial Inclusion (AFI) recently announced that the Central Bank of Egypt has won 2 of its 2023 Financial Inclusion Awards. The awards received by the Central Bank from AFI are the Global Financial Inclusion for Youth Award and the Technical Leadership Award for 2023.

AFI acknowledged CBE's achievements in implementing impactful initiatives and policies to accelerate financial inclusion for youth worldwide. CBE demonstrated strong dedication to enhancing financial inclusion for both youth and women through comprehensive approaches, including awareness campaigns, financial education, digital financial literacy initiatives, and financial technology programs.

These efforts resulted in a significant 31% growth in youth financial inclusion in Egypt from 2020 to 2022, with 16.8 million youth being financially integrated. Khalid Bassiouny, the General Manager of Financial Inclusion Management at CBE, also won the Technical Leadership Award from AFI for his clear leadership in contributing high-quality technical inputs to global, regional, and working group outputs.

AFI is a leading global organization in financial inclusion policy development based in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Established in 2008 as a project funded by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation with support from the Australian Agency for International Development (AusAid), AFI's primary mission is to encourage comprehensive financial policies in developing countries to combat poverty. The network comprises over 100 financial institutions from more than 89 countries.
