According to FirstBank list of banks with the Most focus on retail deposits as of June last year, Faisal Islamic Bank topped the list, with individual deposits accounting for 96.39% of the bank's total deposits, reaching EGP127.8 bn by the end of June 2023.

The list reveals the banks' strategies in forming their deposit portfolios, emphasizing the diversity in offering certificates and products to attract more customers. The ranking is based on the ratio of retail deposits to total deposits, providing an indicator of the bank's concentration on retail deposits.

 Alex Bank secured the second position, with 70.68% of its total deposits concentrated in its individual deposits portfolio, totaling EGP84.4 bn, while the bank's total deposit portfolio amounted to about EGP119.3 bn by the end of June 2023.

 Abu Dhabi Islamic Bank - Egypt (ADIB) claimed the third position, with 36.35% of its total deposits focused on individual deposits, amounting to EGP59.8 bn, while its total deposit portfolio reached around EGP110.6 bn by the end of June 2023.

 Commercial International Bank - Egypt (CIB) managed to secure the fourth position, with 53.47% of its total deposits, valued at EGP656.4 bn, concentrated in its retail deposits portfolio, totaling EGP 351 bn by the end of June 2023, followed by Banque du Caire Bank with a concentration ratio of 50.51% at the same period.

National Bank of Kuwait- Egypt claimed the sixth position, with 49.47% of its total deposit portfolio, valued at EGP44.5 bn, concentrated in its retail deposits portfolio, while its total deposit portfolio amounted to about EGP89.9 bn by the end of June 2023.

alBaraka Bank secured the seventh position, with 49.32% of its total deposit portfolio, valued at EGP78.6 bn by the end of last June, concentrated in its retail deposits portfolio of about EGP38.8 bn, followed by Arab African International Bank with a concentration ratio of 43.61% by the end of June 2023.

 

Housing and Development Bank claimed the ninth position on the list, with 41.85% of its total deposit portfolio, valued at EGP90.9 bn, concentrated in its retail deposits portfolio, while the value of its retail deposits portfolio reached around EGP38 bn by the end of June 2023, followed by Attijariwafa with a concentration ratio of 37.99% at the same period.

It is worth mentioning that the values and concentration ratios mentioned in the analysis above are based on separate financial statements announced by each bank at the end of June 2023.
