The meeting, attended by Counselor Sameh El-Khashen, the official spokesperson for the Prime Minister's office, discussed the global and regional impacts of events such as the Russian-Ukrainian war and the conflict in Gaza on the global economy.
These events were noted to have negatively affected most global economies, leading to a significant rise in commodity prices, especially petroleum products.
The meeting also addressed strategies to safeguard the Egyptian economy from these negative effects and enhance its ability to withstand external shocks, given Egypt's interconnectedness with the global supply chains.
Additionally, the meeting explored scenarios for dealing with current global and regional crises and their potential economic impacts, particularly in the tourism and petroleum sectors.
Efforts to increase foreign direct investment rates were discussed, along with incentives for expanding business activities in targeted sectors. Structural reform measures, part of the second phase of the Egyptian economic reform program, were reviewed.
The government's commitment to empowering the private sector in economic activities, in line with the state's policy document, was reaffirmed.
Furthermore, the meeting monitored the implementation of measures to streamline public spending, as approved in the recent Cabinet meeting.
