Egypt’s housing bank exerts lots of effort to provide financial inclusion for PWDs

The Housing and Development Bank affirmed its keenness to support the efforts of the Central Bank of Egypt in facilitating the provision of banking services and products to PWD’s and encouraging them to deal with the banking system.

This is done by taking several measures that encompassed including them among the bank's customers segments as well as providing them with home visits to update their banking data in the event of their request.

The bank's procedures included accepting the stamp and fingerprint as an alternative to signing all banking procedures, while providing a mechanism for presenting banking products and services to PWDs and communicating with them inside the branches by printing forms in Braille, displaying products and services in sign language, making available a recording for the terms and conditions to visually impaired customers.

HDB also exempted PWDs from the expenses of opening accounts throughout the year, in addition to providing prominent (debit - credit) cards upon the customer requests for the visually impaired.

Among its procedures to give access to PWDS; the bank provided an e-mail to facilitate communication, and the bank succeeded in making about 10% of its branches accessible for PWDs.
