CIB, AAIB and QNB Egypt top private sector bank in strengthening its syndicated loans portfolio in last 3 years

First Bank index of the private sector banks operating in the Egyptian banking sector that have strengthened joint financing portfolios in the last 3 years revealed that the Commercial International Bank-Egypt «CIB» topped the list, as its portfolio rose by 36.90 billion pounds in the last 3 years, reaching 79.96 billion pounds by the end of 2024, compared to 43.06 billion pounds by the end of 2021.

The «First Bank» index for enhancing joint financing monitored the increase values in the total joint loan portfolios of 19 private banks operating in the Egyptian banking system for which financial data were available for the last 3 years (specifically from the end of 2021, until the end of 2024).

The index showed that 17 banks achieved significant increases in the size of their joint financing portfolios, with the exception of two banks that achieved a significant decline in their total portfolios in the last 3 years. It is worth noting that the banks «ABC» and «FABMISR» completed acquisitions during this period, which affected their increase values.

Returning to the list, the Arab African International Bank snatched second place, as its syndicated loan portfolio jumped by EGP 35.08 billion over the past 3 years, to record EGP 63.49 billion at the end of 2024, compared to EGP 28.41 billion at the end of 2021.

Qatar National Bank «QNB» Egypt ranked third with an increase of EGP 18.81 billion over the past 3 years, as its total syndicated loan portfolio reached EGP 34.78 billion at the end of 2024, compared to EGP 15.97 billion at the end of 2021.

Arab International Banking Company «SAIB» came in fourth place, after its syndicated loan portfolio increased by EGP 11.64 billion over the past 3 years, recording EGP 21.03 billion at the end of 2024, compared to EGP 9.39 billion at the end of 2021.

First Abu Dhabi Bank-Egypt «FABMISR» took fifth place, after its syndicated loan portfolio rose by about EGP 9.57 billion over the past 3 years, recording EGP 12.68 billion by the end of 2024, compared to EGP 3.11 billion by the end of 2021.

Suez Canal Bank ranked sixth, with an increase of about EGP 8.42 billion over the past 3 years, as its syndicated loan portfolio recorded EGP 16.66 billion at the end of 2024, compared to EGP 8.242 billion at the end of 2021.

Kuwait Finance House Bank - Egypt came seventh, after recording its portfolio of joint financing debtors to 10.85 billion pounds at the end of 2024, compared to 5.10 billion pounds at the end of 2021, with an increase value of 5.74 billion pounds in the last 3 years.

Abu Dhabi Commercial Bank-Egypt «ADCB» dominated eighth place, after its corporate syndicated loan portfolio reached EGP 6.40 billion at the end of 2024, compared to EGP 1.77 billion at the end of 2021, an increase of EGP 4.63 billion over the past three years.

Al Baraka Bank came in ninth place, as its portfolio of joint financing increased by about 4.31 billion pounds in the last 3 years, after recording 7.38 billion pounds at the end of 2024, compared to 3.07 billion pounds at the end of 2021.

As for tenth place, it went to Next Bank «BANK NXT», after its syndicated loan portfolio reached 5.78 billion pounds at the end of 2024, compared to 1.54 billion pounds at the end of 2021, with an increase value of 4.24 billion pounds in the last 3 years.

It is worth noting that private sector banks are banks whose total shareholding exceeds 50%, according to data from the Egyptian Ministry of Public Business Sector.
