QNB-Egypt, FABMISR, and ADIB-Egypt Lead Foreign Banks in Strengthening Their Financial Position Over the Last 3 Years

QNB-Egypt Tops the List of Foreign Banks Strengthening Their Financial Position with an Asset Increase of EGP 454.78 billion; FABMISR Secures Second Place with EGP 325.07 billion
ADIB-Egypt ranked third with an increase of EGP 169.39 billion, while HSBC and NBK-Egypt claimed the fourth and fifth spots, with increases of EGP 151.19 billion and EGP 118.16 billion, respectively.
First Bank’s index of foreign banks operating in the Egyptian banking sector revealed that Qatar National Bank – Egypt «QNB-Egypt» topped the ranking of the most strengthened financial positions over the past three years, with its total assets rising by EGP 454.78 billion. The bank’s asset portfolio grew to EGP 808.98 billion by the end of 2024, compared to EGP 354.20 billion at the end of 2021.
The index tracked increases in the total asset portfolios of 13 foreign banks operating in the Egyptian market, for which financial data was available over the past three years (from year-end 2021 to year-end 2024).
Results showed that all banks under review recorded notable increases in their total assets during this period. It is worth noting that both ABC and FABMISR underwent acquisitions, which affected the magnitude of their growth.
Returning to the ranking, First Abu Dhabi Bank – Egypt «FABMISR» secured second place, with its assets growing by EGP 325.07 billion over the past three years, reaching EGP 412.71 billion at the end of 2024, compared to EGP 87.64 billion at the end of 2021.
Abu Dhabi Islamic Bank – Egypt «ADIB-Egypt» came third, with an asset increase of EGP 169.39 billion, bringing its portfolio to EGP 258.84 billion at the end of 2024, up from EGP 89.45 billion at the end of 2021.
HSBC-Egypt ranked fourth, as its asset portfolio rose by EGP 151.19 billion to EGP 283.46 billion by year-end 2024, compared to EGP 132.27 billion in 2021.
Finally, National Bank of Kuwait – Egypt «NBK-Egypt» claimed the fifth spot with an increase of EGP 118.16 billion, with total assets reaching EGP 195.66 billion by the end of 2024, compared to EGP 77.49 billion in 2021.
