NBE, Banque Misr, and CIB Top First Bank’s Credit Competitiveness Index for H1 2025

NBE topped First Bank’s Credit Competitiveness Index with an increase of EGP 378.73 billion in total customer loans, while Banque Misr ranked second with an increase of EGP 109.23 billion.
CIB came in third with an increase of EGP 77.24 billion, followed by QNB-Egypt and ADIB-Egypt in fourth and fifth places, recording increases of EGP 40.25 billion and EGP 25.47 billion, respectively.
AAIB, FABMISR, and SC Bank were also among the top ten banks, with increases of EGP 20.45 billion, EGP 17.71 billion, and EGP 17.09 billion, respectively.
The First Bank Credit Competitiveness Index for banks operating in the Egyptian banking sector during the first half of 2025 revealed that the National Bank of Egypt «NBE» secured the top position after its total customer loans portfolio rose to approximately EGP 4.33 trillion by the end of June 2025, compared to EGP 3.95 trillion at the end of 2024 a growth of EGP 378.73 billion.
The Credit Competitiveness Index measures the ability of banks operating in Egypt’s banking sector to offer credit products or loan facilities that attract customers ,both individuals and corporates, based on the absolute value of growth in total customer loans, reflecting the bank’s success in expanding its lending portfolio.
The index tracked changes in the total customer loan portfolios of 27 banks operating in the Egyptian banking sector and revealed that all banks analyzed achieved growth in their total loan portfolios during the first half of 2025, according to independently published financial statements.
Banque Misr came in second, with its total customer loans rising to EGP 1.31 trillion by the end of June 2025, compared to EGP 1.20 trillion at the end of 2024, marking an increase of EGP 109.23 billion in H1 2025.
Commercial International Bank «CIB» ranked third, as its total customer loans increased by EGP 77.24 billion during the first six months of 2025, reaching EGP 466.81 billion by June 2025, compared to EGP 389.57 billion at the end of 2024.
Qatar National Bank-Egypt «QNB-Egypt» secured the fourth position, with an increase of EGP 40.25 billion in total customer loans, reaching EGP 405.54 billion by the end of June 2025, compared to EGP 365.29 billion at the end of 2024.
Abu Dhabi Islamic Bank-Egypt «ADIB-Egypt» ranked fifth, with its total customer financing rising by EGP 25.47 billion in H1 2025 to EGP 128.21 billion by June 2025, compared to EGP 102.74 billion at the end of 2024.
Arab African International Bank «AAIB» came sixth, as its total customer loans rose by EGP 20.45 billion to reach EGP 222.54 billion by June 2025, compared to EGP 202.09 billion a year earlier.
First Abu Dhabi Bank-Egypt «FABMISR» ranked seventh, recording an increase of EGP 17.71 billion in its total customer loans to reach EGP 166.61 billion by June 2025, up from EGP 148.90 billion at the end of 2024.
Suez Canal Bank «SC Bank» ranked eighth, after its total customer loans increased by EGP 17.09 billion during the first half of 2025, reaching EGP 96.25 billion by the end of June 2025, compared to EGP 79.17 billion at the end of 2024.
Emirates NBD – Egypt came ninth, with a loan portfolio increase of EGP 12.82 billion in the first six months of 2025, reaching EGP 96.88 billion by June 2025, compared to EGP 84.06 billion at the end of 2024.
Finally, saib Bank secured the tenth position, with its total customer loans rising by EGP 12.69 billion to reach EGP 78.61 billion by the end of June 2025, compared to EGP 65.93 billion at the end of 2024.
