NBE, Banque Misr, and CIB Top the «First Bank» Depositors’ Confidence Index for H1 2025

NBE Tops the «First Bank» Depositor Confidence Index with an Increase of Approximately EGP 450 billion, Banque Misr ranked second with an increase of EGP 282 billion, whileCIB came in third with a growth value of EGP 72.34 billion.
Meanwhile, SC Bank and ADIB-Egypt captured the fourth and fifth positions with increases of EGP 39.70 billion and EGP 33.32 billion, respectively.
FABMISR, BDC, and Alex Bank were also among the top 10 banks on the index, with growth values of EGP 29.69 billion, EGP 28.17 billion, and EGP 22.56 billion, respectively.
The «First Bank» Depositor Confidence Index for banks operating in the Egyptian banking sector during the first half of 2025 revealed that the National Bank of Egypt «NBE» topped the list, driven by an increase of approximately EGP 450 billion in its customer deposit portfolio during the first six months of the year, bringing the total to around EGP 5.45 trillion by the end of June 2025, compared to EGP 5 trillion at the end of 2024.
The «First Bank» Depositors’ Confidence Index measures the trust and saving behavior of depositors in the Egyptian banking sector by tracking the absolute increase in total customer deposits at each bank over a specific period. The bank achieving the highest net increase in deposits between December 2024 and June 2025 ranks first on the index.
According to the index, which tracked 27 banks operating in the Egyptian banking sector, 25 banks recorded positive growth in total customer deposits, while two banks experienced a decline during H1 2025.
Returning to the rankings, Banque Misr secured the second position, after expanding its customer deposit base by EGP 282 billion during the first six months of the year, bringing total deposits to approximately EGP 2.78 trillion at the end of June 2025, up from EGP 2.50 trillion at the end of 2024.
Commercial International Bank «CIB» ranked third, with customer deposits rising by EGP 72.34 billion in H1 2025, reaching EGP 1.04 trillion as of June 2025, compared to EGP 967.90 billion at the end of 2024.
Suez Canal Bank «SC Bank» took fourth place, as its total customer deposits increased by EGP 39.70 billion to reach EGP 175.17 billion by June 2025, up from EGP 135.47 billion at the end of 2024.
In fifth place, Abu Dhabi Islamic Bank-Egypt «ADIB-Egypt» grew its customer deposits by EGP 33.32 billion, bringing the total to EGP 233.60 billion by the end of June 2025, compared to EGP 200.28 billion at the end of 2024.
First Abu Dhabi Bank-Egypt «FABMISR» came sixth, achieving a deposit growth value of EGP 29.69 billion, reaching EGP 288.48 billion by June 2025, versus EGP 258.79 billion in 2024.
Banque du Caire «BDC» ranked seventh, with deposits up by EGP 28.17 billion, totaling EGP 380.45 billion by the end of June 2025, compared to EGP 352.27 billion at the end of 2024.
Bank of Alexandria took eighth place, increasing its deposits by EGP 22.56 billion to EGP 190.59 billion by June 2025, versus EGP 168.04 billion in 2024.
saib Bank ranked ninth, with deposits up by EGP 21.74 billion, reaching EGP 139.20 billion by June 2025, compared to EGP 117.45 billion at the end of 2024.
Finally, Emirates NBD-Egypt rounded out the top 10, after growing its customer deposits by EGP 19.42 billion, bringing the total to EGP 147.61 billion by June 2025, compared to EGP 128.18 billion at the end of 2024.
