Egypt’s banking sector performance on EGX at Thursday’s closing session

The banking sector ends EGX trading session on Thursday with increase in the market cap by 2.28% or EGP 254.285 billion compared to EGP 248.611 billion at the end of Wednesday’s session.

The market cap of the banking sector reached 25.47% of the total EGX market cap, which is considered the highest percentage among the sectors listed on the Egyptian Stock Exchange.

The turnover on banking sector shares amounted to EGP 403.157 million which represents 15.70% of the total trading volume today after 10.563 million shares were exchanged capturing 1.16% of the total trading volume.

The indexes of the Egyptian Exchange (EGX) closed Thursday’s trading session with a positive performance after the EGX30 main index went up 0.49% to 16,065.98 points.

The EGX50 EWI also rose by 0.33% to 2,830.79 points.

Furthermore, the small- and mid-cap EGX70 EWI as well as EGX100 EWI indices ended the session higher by 0.77% at 2,997.81 points and by 0.70% at 4,459.75 points, respectively.

The turnover amounted to EGP 2.56 billion after 911.57 million shares were exchanged during the session. The market cap value reached EGP 1.05 trillion.

As for trading on securities, the Egyptian traders were net sellers with EGP 157.96 million. Meanwhile, the foreign and Arab investors were net buyers with EGP 106.13 million and EGP 51.82 million, respectively.
