First Bank Ranking of the Largest Groups Operating in the Egyptian Market as of June 2025

HSBC tops the ranking of the largest international banking groups operating in Egypt, with total assets amounting to USD 3.21 trillion, while Crédit Agricole secured the second place with total assets of USD 2.73 trillion.

Intesa Sanpaolo ranked third, with assets reaching USD 1.11 trillion, followed by QNB Group in fourth place with assets totaling USD 371.42 billion.

Both Emirates NBD and FAB UAE were among the top five global banking groups operating in Egypt by the end of June 2025, with total assets amounting to USD 365.79 billion and USD 295.61 billion, respectively.

The First Bank ranking of the largest international banking groups operating in the Egyptian banking sector as of June 2025 revealed that HSBC Group topped the list after recording total assets of USD 3.21 trillion by the end of June 2025.

The ranking included 15 international banking groups operating in the Egyptian market and was based on a descending classification by total assets denominated in U.S. dollars as of June 2025, ensuring an accurate and objective comparison.

Crédit Agricole Group claimed second place, with total assets of approximately USD 2.73 trillion by the end of June 2025.

Intesa Sanpaolo Group—operating in Egypt under the name Bank of Alexandria—ranked third, with total assets reaching around USD 1.11 trillion as of June 2025.

QNB Group secured fourth place, with total assets of about USD 371.42 billion by the end of June 2025.

Finally, First Abu Dhabi Bank (FAB UAE) came in fifth, with total assets amounting to approximately USD 365.79 billion as of June 2025.
